Q: Can children take ultralife Products?
A: Absolutely! In fact all ultralife products have been specifically formulated with children in mind. For products where the recommended dosage for children under 12 differs from that of adults the relevant dosage is specified on the product label. For those parents who have difficulty in getting their children to eat the recommended 5 - 9 servings of fresh fruit and vegetables per day, what better solution could there be than delicious tasting Ultra Fruit & Veg!

Q: Are ultralife Products suitable for a High Protein, Low Glycaemic Index Diet (a.k.a. High Protein, Low Carbohydrate Diet)?
A: All ultralife Products have been specifically formulated to be suitable for High Protein, Low Glycaemic Index Diets; in fact all Ultra-Healthy Food products ARE High protein, Low Glycaemic Index! Note that the simplified description of 'High protein, low carbohydrate' diet is inaccurate and could be a little confusing; the objective of this type of diet is not to actually consume as little carbohydrates as possible (which would potentially make you feel very ill and could be extremely bad for your health), but to consume as little HIGH Glycaemic Index carbohydrates as possible, since these are the carbohydrates you want to avoid as they are broken down by the body quickly and then readily convert into body fat.

Q: What is the Glycaemic Index (GI) of common foods?
A: Foods with low GI (less than 55) are broken down by the body slowly, providing a slow and sustained release of energy and therefore convert less readily into body fat.
Examples of low GI foods are: Fructose (fruit sugar), soy products, peas, lentils, beans, pasta, bran, barley, rye, peanuts and fruit (cherries, grapefruit, oranges, plums, apples, grapes, apricots (dried), pears, peaches)
Foods with medium GI (between 55 and 70) provide a medium level energy.
Examples of medium GI foods are: New potatoes, Sweet potatoes, beetroot, carrots (raw), orange juice, oats and fruit (Kiwifruit, Bananas, Mangoes, Sultanas, apricots (fresh), raisins, pineapple)
Foods with high GI (more than 70) are broken down by the body fast, providing a quick release of energy, which converts readily into body fat and may trigger an insulin response.
Examples of high GI foods are: Sucrose (table sugar a.k.a. 'sugar'), glucose, white breads, breakfast cereals (Shredded Wheat, Rice Krispies, Weetabix, Cornflakes, Sugar Puffs, Frosties, Coco Pops etc
), breakfast bars, crumpets, donuts, waffles, rice, rice pasta, French fries, baked potatoes, parsnips, Swede, carrots (cooked), biscuits & crackers, soft drinks, ice cream, marmalades & jams, fruit (watermelon and dates) and a leading weight loss drink!
